Interpreting this, United Designers pared away all the non-essential elements of a “traditional” hotel to create The Metropolitan, timeless and yet firmly contemporary – a formula which has brought considerable success since its opening in 1997. Nobu, the restaurant co-owned by Nobu Matsuhisa and Robert de Niro, offers innovative Japanese cuisine with an upbeat New-York style atmosphere while the Met Bar continues to be the place to hang-out for fashionable Londoners.
